ECOTUNE CLAIMS ‘FASTEST EVER GERMAN CAR’ TITLE AT CRAIL RACEWAY
1st Apr 2019
Ecotune’s very own Porsche 911 Turbo S development car has taken home the record for the fastest ever German car to set foot at Crail Raceway’s quarter-mile drag strip.
With staff and family members from the Glasgow-based tuning outfit heading to the Fife venue back in late March, the 991.2-generation car – owned by company director Stan Ward – was piloted up the 1320-foot strip to a time of 9.940 seconds @ 141.4mph in the hands of talented team member, Andrew Rawes.
“We wanted to see if a Gen-2 Turbo S could break into the 9-second mark running on stock turbos,” Ward explains. “We were faced with a tricky surface and found it hard to get heat into the tyres, but are quite pleased with the results and encouraged that we can go much faster in the future.”
Defeating the likes of R8s and heavily-modified RS3s during the day, it might be a surprise to learn that modifications to this AWD monster are few and far between, revolving around Wagner intercoolers, an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and some Mickey Thompson street-legal drag tyres. It’s all tied together with a bespoke ECU calibration from Stan himself – a service which Ecotune is famed for across the country and beyond.
Stay tuned for plenty more from this absurdly fast coupé as Stan and the team gradually take it to the next level, with further hardware and software upgrades planned over the next few months.
Ecotune would like to thank the following to help make it happen:

-
Shore Wraps for the vinyl wrap
