In this month’s Owner Spotlight, we look at James’ Mk7 VW Golf R which recently received a bespoke Ecotune Stage 3 package which included the new Turbo Technics V4 turbocharger.

WHAT’S INVOLVED? 

Owner James approached Ecotune after hearing about the new Turbo Technics TT V4 turbocharger that we now offer as an option with our celebrated Stage 3 tunes. 

Liaising closely with Ecotune, a full spec list was soon created to ensure the optimum results: 

- Turbo Technics V4 hybrid turbocharger 

- Bespoke Ecotune dyno-developed ECU/TCU software 

- Turbo Technics intake pipe 

- Milltek resonated, valved cat-back exhaust system 

- Milltek de-cat downpipe 

- Airtec intercooler 

- Forge Motorsport discharge pipe 

- Forge Motorsport boost pipes 

- Autotech high-pressure fuel pump 

- 4bar MAP sensor 

- NGK spark plugs 

- Racingline oil management 

- Racingline R600 cold air intake 

- Racingline turbo muffler delete 

- Forge Motorsport dogbone mount 

- Millers engine oil 

- Dodson DSG oil 

- Ecotune iFlash 

- Bilstein B16 coilovers 

- AP Racing CP9040 6-piston big brake kit (with AP Racing 362mm 2-piece floating rotors, Ferodo DS2500 pads and Motul RBF660 fluid) 

- Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 alloys 

- Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres 

- AWE Switchpath exhaust remote 

- Switchable maps with Ecotune’s handheld iFlash device

RESULTS

With all of the above hardware fitted, the Golf was then put onto Ecotune’s rolling road where a bespoke calibration was carried out to its ECU.

With peak boost now coming in at 2.1bar, the R’s motor is now capable of developing 511.7bhp and 467.4lb ft of torque – a great achievement for an engine whose internals remain completely stock.
