Built on Bosch OEM housings. Strengthened with billet internals. Volume and pressure tested before it leaves our facility.
Beyond Stage 2 on the EA888.3 2.0T, the factory low-pressure fuel pump begins to struggle under sustained high load, particularly once ethanol is introduced. It can no longer maintain consistent low-pressure supply to the HPFP, and that becomes a limiting factor for both performance and reliability as power climbs. This pump was developed to sustain fuel supply well beyond what the factory unit was ever intended to deliver, and it has been proven across hundreds of high-output EA888.3 builds through our dealer network.

How it's built
Each pump is built on a brand-new Bosch OEM housing, not a reconditioned unit. Internally, billet locking rings, standoffs, and strengthening components replace the factory items to handle the increased demand. The factory venturi design is retained, which is critical for AWD vehicles. Without it, cross-tank fuel transfer can be compromised, leading to fuel starvation under hard cornering or sustained lateral load. Maintaining the original venturi geometry ensures the pump draws reliably from both sides of the tank on 4Motion and Quattro platforms.

General advice
Fuel pump performance is directly influenced by the condition of the hardware around it. Installing the Ecotune Fuel Line Kit alone improves parasitic loss and reduces the duty cycle at which the LPFP needs to operate. Improving connections and earths at the fuel pump controller also has a notable impact on controller efficiency. OEM wiring has a current limit and naturally influences pump performance over time. Whether the pump is upgraded or stock, this is a recommended point of attention for anyone looking to get the best from their fuel system.
The LPFP pressure sensor is located in the port injector fuel rail. This rail is fed through a very small outlet on the side of the OEM HPFP. By design, this significantly hinders fuel pressure reading and supply to the port injectors. On every build at Ecotune where the port injectors are used to a greater degree, a brass blank is installed at the HPFP outlet and the port injector rail is fed via a fuel line T-junction to ensure sufficient supply. This issue is eliminated entirely when the Ecotune Fuel Line Kit is installed, but improvements to the OEM setup can be made with these basic recommendations.
Fitting and calibration
ECU calibration of LPFP duty, pre-control, and PID is required to ensure correct operation. This pump will not function properly without appropriate engine management changes. We strongly recommend fitting by an Approved Ecotune Dealer. Find yours at ecotune.uk/find-a-dealer.
All pumps are volume and pressure tested prior to dispatch. There may be a negligible amount of ASNU fuel simulate on your pump upon arrival. This is normal.
Why Ecotune
Every unit is designed, assembled, and quality controlled at our UK facility by the same technical team that works directly with our calibration engineers. The hardware and software are developed together, not independently. We fit these across our global dealer network and closely monitor results and feedback from every application. If something isn't performing to spec, we catch it and address it before the next production run. Developed and supported by the team that calibrates your ECU.
